Then ripoffs just beeline for that archetype.
They make BOTH and BOTH are cancer. They're too rigidly focused on money making and a specific brand and not about making something that is actually good. They could very easily make something that is mere bait and it would also get ripoffs because it's good bait (*cough* gacha).
It leads to parasitic behaviour when designing a product. They become less things to enjoy, more things to control and manipulate you.
Pokemon was pretty bad from the start with that, but behind the shallow corporatism we kids still saw a bit of soul there.
Now it's blind corporatism. They're just in the dark with no clue now. It's bait still, but it's lacking any goodness it had. Any love in it. Any motivation for it. Any creativity and fun.
And that makes it mere bland marketing garbage now. It's THAT shit we have to avoid at all cost.
We should be pushing content with some genuine quality, not mere slop.
