According to some Japanese sources, ILCA wanted BDSP to be a Platinum remake, but they were told to remake DP only.
BDSP even has leftover data for a battle vs Cyrus in Celestic Town, which is something that only happens in Platinum but not in DP.
My question is: do you guys think that this is true? Do you think ILCA wanted to remake Platinum but they weren't allowed? And if so, why? Is it because GameFreak were afraid that ILCA's game could overshadow PLA? Some people are even saying that Masuda's job as co-director of BDSP was to sabotage BDSP from the inside and make sure it won't overshadow PLA... But personally, this sounds more like a conspiracy theory to me.
That said, personally I find it hard to believe that things like the Battle Frontier would have been included, even if ILCA were allowed to follow Platinum's story.
Personally, I like BDSP, and I don't miss the Platinum content. But I know a lot of people wanted a Platinum remake, so I want to know what do you guys think.
