Ideally, they had something of a point.
Truthfully they were manipulating others, or being manipulated by Ghetsis, or both.
Some members of Plasma really wanted N as a king and believed in the Team's message. Some saw it as a way to steal the pokemon of others.
You have one version of Plasma lead entirely by dogma. (BW), and an entirely different version of Plasma lead by Colress and cold logic. (B2W2)
And the take-away as that both extremes didn't pan out for the evil team.
