Garchomp is BANNED. It's not even that good in VGC since all 2 VGC tournaments in Gen 4 allowed legendaries.

Skarmory and Blissey aren't terrible to deal with either. Mixed attackers made dealing with them much easier. But then residual damage from sand and sneaky pebbles made mixed attackers a liability. The real cancer is Stealth Rocks, Latias, and Jirachi.

Baton Pass is became actually unstoppable in Gen 6 because of Fairy types. Dragon Tail was the last fool-proof method of stopping the chain, but then Fairy type was added being immune to that. Sound Proof let you blank Roar and Magic Bounce lets you blank Whirlwind. That left just Dragon Tail. Mr. Mime allowed for insane role compression on Baton Pass teams since it was immune to Roar and Dragon Tail, could boost with Calm Mind, and had Baton Pass itself.

There were people who had dedicated anti-BP teams that were losing to Baton Pass teams. Game Freak added too much support for Baton Pass and that made it untenable to keep around. If Fairy weren't immune to Dragon, BP might not have been banned in Gen 6.

6 and 7 were the easiest gens to get into imo. The most popular old gen is ADV right now but it used to be dpp and oras. blame youtube.
by gen 7 a lot of mons just had bullshit moves and abilities that let them run away with games which defined that meta, but i prefer that to gen 8 where its all about these slow positioning plays and knock off spam and hdb like you have to play 50 turns of the game before you can make actually reasonable progress. in gen 7 progress was inevitable because of how the tier was structured and how Z moves worked.
Gen 6 was so fucking fat and dominated by glumons that running away with games wouldnt be a viable strategy. for a long time you could get away with having no wincons on your team because fat fucks would just stop them anyways.
Gen 5 is a clusterfuck of overpowered mons that have really awkward interactions with eachother. You dont really understand why gen 5 feels so weird until you play other metas to realize the natural balance of mons against eachother. For example, the current consensus is that rain and sun are shit because they dont have room to fit in pokemon that do well vs offensive threats and poli is so trash.
I didnt even bother with gen 9. Sometimes i dabble in gen 6 and 7 lower metas just for nostalgia but those ladders are extinct. The best you can get is someone in ruins of alph playing sample teams from the forums.

Another gen 6 team, fat balance para spam. Mamo and toge make a really great core and both use paraflinch to break through fatmons. I used to have jirachi over coballion for more paraflinch but the faster twave is better and he can absorb knock offs. The gameplan is to get in mamoswine and tangrowth as often as possible to put pressure on their offensive mons so that your fatmons like cotton guard ampharos and np toge can win by attrition. your offense pokemon are there to die so you can win defensively.

Gen 7 HO but this time its trick room. The idea is to use 2 brainless cores (mag+megawile and greninja+hoopa) to set up a greninja endgame. Screens are just there if you dont have a good opportunity to trick room. last move on mawile is flexible. Trick room doesnt have bad match ups but you have no way to kill something like zard X or opposing magearna.

I had plenty of games where one players gets a Pokemon the other player can’t beat, or one player gets a Shell Smash user and the other player had maybe 1 Pokemon that could have KO’d the shell smasher if it was on the field before it shell smashes.
Also not to mention no team preview, so if you make a sacrifice without knowing your opponent has some Uber, you’re fucked.

Hidden Power is a fine move. It’s only 60 BP since Gen 6, meaning that regular STAB moves would deal the same or even more damage.
I can see why someone would hate Tera Blast since you have effectively 120 BP coverage moves due to STAB. Hidden Power is half that in power.
Also no moves are visible from team preview (except for Keldeo-R revealing Secret Sword, which you don’t have to use that form anyways) and its fairly obvious what Hidden Power a Pokemon might run.

swagger was an indefensibly hypocritical ban. Every other tier had to deal with swagplay and smogon wouldnt let nu suspect test it in gen 5, but suddenly because OU players get mad at klefki specifically they get rid of it.

The dumbest, low-risk-high-reward-braindead-ooga-booga-monkeybrain-masterduel-yellow-cardoutline-i-click shit ever to leave the drawing board and one of Gen 9's few good ideas was ripping that shit from most water types, but unfortunately they still kept it on some of the most egregious fucking stalling/tanking annoyances like Alomamola, Suicune and Slowbro.

I disagree. Not bringing your entire team to ever battle greatly expands teambuilding options. When every Pokemon needs to participate, every Pokemon needs to be generally viable in every fight. When a Pokemon can be kept in the back and used a niche counterpick in a handful of fights, it lets you use lesser used and underexplored Pokemon.
