Despite this admittedly cruel treatment, he didn’t hate Cynthia. She was a wonderful Champion, having represented Sinnoh perfectly both in her strength and elegance. She’d been the region’s number one Trainer for a little over a year at this point, with her team able to effortlessly devastate everything and everyone they came across from no-name fledgelings to world-renowned Trainers from the next region over. Despite his best attempts to improve and strategize, her brutal Pokémon knocked over his party like a line of dominos over and over again, and managing to faint one would only bring out another of her equally ruthless beasts. If he could barely make a dent in her team, what did that say about everyone else in the region? Getting her out of the picture was for the best.
He’d make for a much fairer Champion. He was sure of it.
