My first pokemon game was leafgreen back in 2004-5 and my first starter was a Squirtle. A few years later, that copy shat itself for no reason.

Contests should come back and be a permanent staple in the series.It was a nice expansion of the Pokemon world in gen 3, giving us more to do with our Pokemon that went beyond battling.

Anything like Modern Emerald? I like the expansion, inclusion of some mons, but faithfulness to the gen 3 dynamic and meta.
I've gone through Hoenn Adventures, Inclement Emerald, and Radical Red as well, but mainly just look for Hoenn completion hacks now.

Unironically yea. I think they struck gold with Contests. Have it be in parallel with the Pokemon League where you can do contests between each towns and culminating in a championship-type contest.

I'd love if the games essentially had two full-fledged quests: a badge quest, and ribbon quest. Give the player the option of pursuing just one quest, or both at the same time. But I'd still settle for just having contests back in general, even if they are relegated to a side quest.
