Because it doesn't get as much attention and instead attracts career shitposters that sit on the catalog looking to get a rise out of anyone, and disrupting a storytime is an easy way to do that. Not that the storytimes on /a/ don't get disrupted too, because they damn well do.
/a/ also has a higher bump and image limit than a smaller board like /vp/ does.

This is likely why. The average volume of Adventures exceeds /vp/ image limit of 150 if it was done at 1 page per post. A storytime of Adventures here would have to contain 2 pages per image or take 2 threads per volume.
