Those two made sense in context, with Lusamine being obsessed with UBs to the point of imitating them with her clothing and forcing her daughter to do the same.

Those theories did get acknowledged later on with Lusamine having a Pheromosa in Masters, and the anime having amnesiac Mohn live with a Shiny Nihilego that he thinks is Lillie

My guess is that it's just leftover from an earlier draft of the game. Like they originally had an idea for a plot where the Ultra Beasts were alternate universe versions of people or the characters were UB's in disguise, or the Characters attracted UB's like themselves or something. But through the various drafts and script tinkering over the dev cycle the story became about something totally different. But the Character designs were still there so they point to a connection that no longer exists.
