I did it with Pika because it feels the most consistent of the meta decks, but I saw way too many M2s, a handful of Zards and Blaines, some greniggas, some Cunos and then some odd ones out, like Fighting and Dark. I ran into exactly one Grass.

I played it because it's what I had on hand and it's the one thing I play that's not my main. Obviously I can't go Grass on the tryhard event, so Pika it was.

The algorithm is too heavy handed in its current implementation. I dare say it would be better if matchmaking was entirely random, but I get the sense the intention is to collect data for all the matchups and mirror matches

I've used Pikachu ex (2 pika 2 zap ex 2 electrode), got two win streak before I went back to losing every game because of bricked hands vs opponents' god hands. Tried Articuno ex 18t, got fucked. Can't do Weezing decks because for some ungodly reason I only have one Weezing and can't afford another right now. I'm about to try the promo mankey stuff, though I'm most likely going to run into even more Pikachu decks that don't brick. I play super casually so I don't know all the meme decks.

Anyone have any fun meme deck builds? I'm not huge on Moltres/Misty coinflip shit. I've been having a blast trying different stuff. Koga deck is fun, Kabutops x promo mankey is fun and high risk, tried a blane deck but wasn't too sure on it yet

As far as meme decks go I like Marowak/Kabutops. You're guaranteed to start with a cubone, and you play 2x marowak and 2x marowak ex, and evolve according to if you're on the play or draw. Not the best deck since kabutops is unreliable but it's pretty fun

I was losing with Electrode until I switch to Heliolisk, but that might just be my experience. The free switch and stable damage is much nicer than the possible extra 10 damage, but the lizard worked for me. Throw in a Pincurchin and regular Zapdos too though.

Just build a meta deck as they crush basically everything. The CPU doesn't cheat or have cards better than what you can have. Getting clears is easy, doing the objectives with shitty disadvantage decks is the hard part

It's not, it's actually a large data collection event. The matchmaking is designed to put different deck types in different predetermined matchups to get a wide collection of winrates. The only players with the 5 win streak were literally handed their wins.

Got it with the Alakazam and Wheezing deck that was posted in a previous thread. Won against the most common meta decks, Pikachu EX included, despite me going second and having a terrible hand. Pretty fun deck to use overall too.

Master Duel started with 250k~ concurrent players. Then all the normies' Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes got wrecked by meta cancer in PVP and the numbers dwindled down to the 20k~ it stands at now.

Does this game just have a different demographic than other competitive games? I’m not gonna pretend I haven’t malded over bad ladder rng/tilt in games back in the day but they genuinely could not have casualized it any more than 5 wins, people have done the math and you will likely get the emblem pretty easily if you/your deck are solid enough.

I'll say that collecting all cards is like 70% for me, battling is 30%. I still do all events and battles (got all the trophies so far), but the gameplay is really simplistic here. It just can't keep up with what can be done in something like MTG.
However I really like how smooth and clean the client is and collecting is fun so for now I'm interested and doing my daily minutes in it, pretty close to Mew now.

Right now there's too few trainer cards to really mix anything up. And since there's only 3 top meta decks, it's all variations on a theme.

I think once we get some more trainer cards and some different mons, you're gonna see much different play styles come out

inb4 there are only stall and blitz decks.

Actually percentage health recovery would be worse design because it would make knowing the possible plays your opponent could make more obfuscated. Planning and mind games around the capabilities of both players cards is where skill lies within card games during the actual playing of cards. Needlessly making that more complicated does nothing to increase the skill involved beyond giving people who can memorize the math involved in every single card a slight edge. The effort vs the payoff would be nonexistant.

Honestly, I am secretly hoping I dont get the 5 streak badge so that the fomo hits me hard enough that I break free from the need to have a perfect account. Playing this has renewed my love of card games and actually gave me some ideas for making my own tcg. But I hate gacha with a passion because im super susceptible to fomo. After many tries with Exeggutor/Butterfree and getting to 4 wins twice, I finally gave up and just used Mewtwo. They didn't make it easy for me either way. I ran into Arbok/Weezing, a Wigglytuff where the match came down to the final coinflip, a Misty deck that whiffed hard, a Mewtwo mirror, and a Blaine aggro that 100% would have won if they had drawn Sabrina.

Don't know what to tell you; only full meta deck I played in the five games I had was vs PikaEX. Others had some jank non-standard Dragonite build, a weird attempt at Alakazam + regular Mew2, something else I don't recall. Definitely far less sweaty than my regular queue battles though.

I've seen 3 but haven't paid for any of them. I got 2 of each promo 3 days in from the bonus picks. If you big time no-life they come steadily. I'm talking noticing you have picks expiring in 6 and 8 minutes and checking before the 8u minute expiration to get an extra roll. That's a common situation and it makes a big difference for the number of bonus you get in a day.

It’s not the most optimized of lists since I threw it together in literally 30 seconds but here:

The gios proved to be really important in multiple matchups, it allows machamp to ohko zapdos and starmie. I’d probably shave a brock and a sabrina for 2 x-speed were I to keep playing the deck. The retreat costs are brutal and a lot of the time it felt like I had to commit to an active until it died pretty much every time I sent it in.

I brought Golem into the regular queue and got Weezing/Wiggly and Marowak back to back. There is definitely ‘something’ going on in matchmaking but it’s hard to say what. Seems like skill/hidden rating and possibly deck composition, event is probably 99% based on current streak, maybe deck choice too

They did a bigger humiliation ritual for their other game, Masters. The game made 26 M in its first week but people realized there was nothing to do so most people including the vast vast majority of its content creators abandoned it, and it was so dire that the company put out an official apology dev letter. They didn't really learn their lesson it seems with this game. They just have more of a cushion because cards suck players in harder.

If I pick Blaine it matches me with Pikachu that OHKO the whole deck. Ok. If I pick Mewtwo somehow everyone is playing a Weezing/Arbok core, it even threw me Nidos. Ok. If I go with Pikachu I always brick horribly and the mirror makes me go first.

Victreebel deck? go second, coins just work. Everyone is playing comfy stuff, no pressure whatsover. A dude even threw the match with cubone and not adding energies or anything. It was insane. Oh and do not even start me on all the Articunny decks all opening misty and winning but mine? all tails or just no misty lol.

This game needs two things
1) let you choose which energy shows up in multi-energy decks
2) introduce one more mechanic, I dunno something that introduces more options as to possible plays. Maybe some kind of interacting more with the enemy hand or even your discard pile
