Agreed we do need more insects with high stats and interesting designs rather than route one shitters and more bug/flying or bug/poison types.

Insects are in crown group Crustacea and Vinagaroons/spiders/scorpions are not. Butterfree is more closely related to Kingler than Ariados. Kabutops is probably still a chelicerate like a spider or scorpion instead of a crustacean though.
