I actually liked one of the proposed thread questions from last thread, so I’ll answer it.

Koa isn’t exactly very good at knowing what others would want as gifts unless he’s known them for a very long time. He’s also fairly frugal and wouldn’t expect presents in return, but he’d do his best. Because of that, some of his gifts could seem a little too simple.

I’ll list a few options for the characters Koa would probably get along with best (or the ones I can think of right now, with my COLD-ASS HANDS AS I TYPE THIS WHILE WAITING FOR THE BUS):

>Bibi
A Ribombee hair pin, ribbon or ring of some kind. Perhaps a Cross Rider box set for something more complex. (Koa does NOT know what to gift to girls. He’d probably have an easier time with Bibi over, say, Ruka, because he has a few shared interests with her already)

Fuck, what if I drew Bibi in a Cross Rider-esque Ribombee-themed costume?

>Ivy
An Alomomola shirt, maybe. A collar with Comfey flowers on it? (Koa would understand Ivy is a nurse, so he’d think maybe she’d appreciate merchandise with healing Pokémon on it)

>Phos
New sunglasses, maybe with a different colour. (Koa thinks Phos is too cool for most conventionally gifts, so he’d try to maybe provide novelty with a new colour of glasses) That’s probably what he’d give to Cassie too.

>Piper (surprise!)
Boxing gloves shaped like Crabrawler or Crabominable pincers. A shed scale from Mo-o, for good luck. (Koa would understand Piper as someone with a spirit akin to Fighting types, so he’d think she’d benefit from the scale the most. It’s a very meaningful thing for him to give away, though. Koa would think of giving one to Bibi, for example, but in his mind she already has a Kommo-o so he’d think it might be a little redundant)

I miss Axelanon.

We've done a few interviews with trainers in the past. But now with modern advancements to Pokedex technology we can translate pokemon speech into human speech. This means we can finally perform interviews not just with the trainer but their pokemon as well. However this is very experimental so let's just stick to one question for now.

It's going to be hella annoying for Alex to have to load priming powder in spite of the fact that he's already shooting a lot faster than other people with firearms. I guess maybe his gauntlets could also have a mechanism to release priming powder just to speed it up a bit? Is there a way to circumvent priming powder entirely?

Koa wouldn’t know to think that far ahead when it comes to buying “girly” presents. He genuinely gets analysis paralysis because he doesn’t know what each bottle does and he wouldn’t be able to tell what any of the female OCs would want in those products. The best I can imagine is “hey, I bought you this one because the woman on the box is a redhead like you. Maybe it helps…?” Then again I imagine Phos treating Koa like a bit of a younger brother so I assume the thought itself already counts

aww that's a cute idea! can't go wrong with an accessory of some kind, for all her tomboyish traits she loves collecting cutesy ornaments. honestly given she's friends with a tailor who already has a flair for the outlandish i could see her getting koa a cross rider cosplay or kommo-o themed suit of his own, or more practically a scarf or belt reminiscent of cross rider's.

I like that idea. I also like that it sorta implies that every pokemon is " different" and it's less that pokemon have a unified "language" so much as its just reading their hearts and emotions.

For starter, and quoting the scotman: sir, yer' rude.
Second, your fetish: I don not share the same desire you do, so I'm not interested in a story where Cynthia is devored by a giant snake while a Plasma Grunt laughs evilly.
Third, and the most important: wasted potential. You get some good artists, and you waste it in vore. For example: your image. It's vore, which repels me. But seeing the image I think "if this was a tentacle monster ready for rape, I could get into this. This is a good artist". But no, instead I have a story about a fetish I'm not interested, so I will avoid an artist that maybe has some good stuff. But since my first exposure are things that does not cater to me, I will probably avoid it.

Not much I can say that the main 3 she started her journey with did already. She wants to be stronger, fixating on power and yet remains a good person. Capable of such violence and yet she's genuinely capable of still caring about people and Pokemon in her own-- as Mari would say-- tsundere ways. People would say I look at him as my father, and it may be true. But he was our familiar first, and our master second. While he took care of me, he also expected me to be as powerful as his pupils, so I did my best. Needless to say, I surpassed them all, with exception of those other two.
I admit it, we may not look as a good team: a naive gentle giant and a lazy gecko with a serious fighter. But our Master saw potential in all of us, and he isn't wrong. Master has trained me to be the greatest fighter to ever live, including human martial arts, and I hope I can reach those heights. As for the others: Sweep may be lazy, but is a clever strategist. He can hinderance his enemies before they reach him. And if they do, he can counter them.
As for Mud, he scares me. He is the only one to truly understand Master, and both can tap into a hidden potential together. While terrifying, I'm jealous. I wish I was that close to Master. But I'm thankful he considers me a close ally, and I will do my best to not dissapoint him.
Now, tell your Pokémon to stop looking at me. Being unique and beautiful is hard already, and I don't like attention.

Like I previously said, David and his team are interesting together. Him and Swampert are basically one and the same, and using the Ultima skill allows them to reach even higher powers (at a cost of their unique personalities and self). David and Sceptyle are polar opposites, but both manage to find common ground to be a good duo.
Finally, David has been training Blaziken since it was a Torchic, so he obviously cares a lot. David is also aware he is shy since he is pretty (by Pokémon standards), and with a shiny skin, so he tries his best to not put him on the spot unless necessary.

BTW, I’ve noticed something. The patterns on Koa’s poncho and his pants are actually slightly different! The yellow and red scales go inside the dark grey parts on the pants, and on the poncho they’re on the light grey parts. I think I didn’t pay attention to that when I first came up with the design, but I think I like the little imperfection there. I also recently remembered that Koa’s grandfather was an important part of the lore so yeah I should work on that

Koa’s from Seafolk Village, so he appreciates the sea and has to take the boat to and from Exeggutor Island from time to time. I think he’d like a new look at the sea from a different perspective. Plus, I’m sure Hula, Koa’s Milotic, would approve.

I couldn’t really focus at the time on a present for David, but I think Koa would offer a similar charm in return, from his side of the sea. Maybe a little bag of black sand, that’d be cool.

Duelist and Ouroboros are probably my favorites. Rapiers should be kept fairly simple even with fantastical designs because their shape is really important to how they're drawn in action scenes and whatnot.

Starblade is an interesting option since "radiant damage" is basically "the power of god/arceus", if I choose to go with a Fiendlock instead of Hexblade as the villain, it could be an ace in the hole for the final fight. Duelist seems like the strongest overall by nature of just being "mad dueling skills" but Cinnabar's poison damage is also probably useful.

The idea is really neat. Grym being an indirect decendant of Terga, making "her" in spirit is interesting. It would be almost like Golurk and her were meant to be together (which has a bit of grim comedy considering Grym is a pseudo zombie powered with Ghost energies).
Is a cute background, reminds me of the Iron Giant.

Side note: I feel kinda bad because I had the idea of a Fakemon with this sort of tale, a giant that protects a city. But the reason he protected it was because it was a man made Pokémon, built to KILL Pokémon. The people of this old civilization saw Pokémon as monsters and demons, so they built their own to protect themselves.

We've already had all sorts of people come in bouncing their ideas off of us. At this point I doubt anyone in here minds it. Just don't always expect timely responses for obvious reasons. It’s not super apparent at first but the main inspiration was the male Genshin protagonist, although the shoes are actually based off of Tartaglia instead. Maybe I might add a few grey or red details like on Traveler’s sleeves.

Having extra AC for a rogue is huge since studded leather (a measly extra 2) is the heaviest armor that you can get. It's important to keep in mind the structure of your narrative. Most stories are written under the assumption that they will be read from start to finish, there's no need to bloat the word count unnecessarily by reminding the audience about details they've already been told.
Eons in Flux is written in an episodic format instead of structured around chapters. It is written with the understanding that not every single viewer has tuned in since the pilot.
For a story like Gilded Platinum where chapter 1 and chapter 9 are part of the same document, there's no real need to go out of your way to mention character descriptions. If so, you can just keep it brief.
You can cheat by having characters remark on physical traits in dialogue.

EiF is good writing for sure and I'm a fan, but one of the few things that I don't favor much are the descriptions. My eyes glaze over after about a sentence of detail honestly. I prefer to keep that stuff short, so I wouldn't say you have to emulate that style. Write like how you would prefer to read it, I'd say.

For as friendly and cuddly as Pokemon can be, most Pokemon have some serious "fuck around and find out" energy to them. If you got stranded in the mountains, it's because you weren't strong enough to handle them. I mean, for all the clowning we do to the Pokédex entries, it also shines these magical beasts are beings to NOT be messed with.
Rhyhorns and Rhydons will crush anything running. Aggrons devour steel like candy. Tyranitars level mountains like a kid digging a sand castle. Parasect's spores are very venomous, and probably killed humans by trying to take them as hosts. Victrebeel's big petal smells like honey, just like his insides, which are baits to eat living beings with acid. Hydreigon fly around, and anything they see is their next meal.
All this examples are with pseudos, and we haven't gotten to the more "common" pokémon, like Gardevoir creating black holes, Magcargos burning twice as the sun in a critical moment, Polywrath beating olimpic swimmers. Even Porygon defying existence with simple code.

The Pokémon world is crazy.

I wish Ninjask got more attention, it's one of my favorite Bug-Types and it's sorely undervalued as a character. Well, characters.

My feed throw me the new Palworld trailer. Don't know why, but this Christmas, all of Japan went "no, we want norse mythology".
Saw it with my brother playing Nikke, saw it in PUBG this season, and now Palworld sending us to lite Skyrim.

Not complaining, but I feel Asia only recycles 4 settings: egyptian, asian, norse, and cyberpunk. Which is a shame, I had a blast in PUBG during Halloween season turning into a vampire or a werewolf.

The setting is a little bit based off of open-world MMORPGS in the sense that “everything is everywhere”, which is why UBs and Paradoxes are a little bit more common. The Ultra Wormholes and Terapagos time distortions that would be only happening in Alola or Paldea are happening all across the land, just infrequently. Likewise, I can see commissions/quests being posted to get rid of them given their unusual aggression. Generational gimmicks are also scattered, and can only be used in certain locations where the power is strong enough (e.x you can Tera only when there’s Tera crystals nearby), likewise, I think that there would also be commissions to stop rampaging Dynamax/Tera Pokemon that got overloaded with the power and grew in size and violent tendencies. As for the combat, there’s going to be good amounts of man v man, man v mon, mon v mon, and shared combat, but I think you’ll just have to wait for my writing in order to see how I imagine it. I think most of the times that humans get involved, they wouldn’t be directly fighting, but they’d support their mom from the sidelines, such as Alex shooting at the enemy’s Pokemon when he gets an opening. People are less wary of attacking each other’s Pokemon on this AU, while there would be very few moments of humans shooting/stabbing a Pokemon during a fight in Alex’s canon since afterwards they’re an easy target, here humans can actually reasonably defend themselves from mons so they’re not as cautious.

I'd say that A'ex's canon storyline after BW2 is a sort of "underbelly" to the Pokemon setting, Pokemon generally (unfortunately) focuses more on positive aspects, with "sort of bad" people like Team Skull and Chairman Rajesh getting redeemed and realizing their and comically evil villains being banished at the hands of the pure of heart. The darker aspects of Pokemon such as Team Rocket essentially being a mafia and having a confirmed killcount are kind of swept under the rug, but ultimately still present. All of his prejudices are routinely reinforced and vindicated, and if I choose to include nonhumans (which I'm leaning towards not doing but I haven't fully rejected it), you can expect to see some Frieren-style racism of "The evil races are actually evil and not misunderstood". Even though media has been trending towards moral relativism since the start of the 21st century, I still find it lacking in actively pessimistic stories that don't just go overboard into "grimdark", which frustrates me because pessimism in storytelling is now starting to become associated with 40K style "hopelessness" and in turn is leading towards non-positive stories being perceived as without merit.

I found a homebrew spell that turns your stomach into a Bag of Holding. It's restricted to what you can realistically swallow like food.No, your stomach doesn't expand like a fetish comic. Fuck off Shaun. People who use Shape Water often carry a Bag of Holding with water in it to use it at will. However, I'm wondering if keeping an internal reservoir of water might be more useful.
I wonder, if he were preparing for a mission, he could find a nearby body of water, use Shape Water to force a large amount of water into his "bag", and then use it for all sorts of insane bullshit.
Getting chased? Spit out a bunch of water onto the ground and freeze it.
Upset? Use Hydro Pump or Ice Beam.
Want to fight dirty? Blast someone with water and freeze their face.
And that's not to mention all of the other common uses of Shape Water. I figure it's easier and more convenient than carrying around an entire bag full of water.

The result is the same, you drop it on someone’s head. Shape Water is a very useful and fun cantrip and this is just an admittedly odd way of making it a bit more convenient to use.

It's a point I've made repeatedly throughout the year, but Pokemon wears its inspirations very proudly on its sleeve. Tajiri's early childhood catching bugs in an environment that felt much bigger than it really was is the obvious one that most people relate to the strongest; but to really understand the Pokemon mindset, you need to also understand its forerunners in Dragon Quest and SMT along with their own precursors of blobbers and the Cyberpunk tabletop game. Then you need to account for Japanese historical context with Shintoism, Kuji-in and Chi/Xi/Ki/whatever, toss it all in a blender and hit frappé, and presto: it's a Pikachu.
Later remakes would muddy the original vision to make Kanto more like Shudo's interpretation in the anime, but you can see these elements at play best in the original RBY version of Celadon City. An absolute crown jewel of shit where Erika's garden was the outlier in a city of filthy water, spartan apartments, overwhelming commercialization, narrow alleyways, gambling dens and yakuza business. It's a setpiece that absolutely screams Cyberpunk's high tech, low life themes.

Ehhh... I didn't feel it like that, I felt like if I walked into medium-high living apartments. I know it sounds weird, but I had that feeling more in Saffron City: the HQ of a giant conglomerate is the center of the city, you need to walk around the giant megalopolis rather than between the streets, and maybe there was one or two buildings with normal people, but most were obviously rich city slickers. Hell, I even felt the dojo more like one of those gyms you go and pay a subscription fee to join, even when it was just muscleheads having sparring sessions between each other.
Also, I never felt Pokémon as a cyberpunk setting, but more to post dystopia stories: you can go to the nature, you can enjoy small chill moments behind a truck watching the sky or camping in a small cave. But then you go into the city and can take a flying bus, or use teleporters to reach different areas in the city.

Oh, no doubt. The presence of corruption and poor people does not a -punk setting make. However, it does pay to keep an eye out for where Pokémon's inspirations bleed through now and again. Celadon City's outskirts are packed with roving biker gangs shaking down passerby, its main streets are brazenly owned by the yakuza, the strongest Trainer in town and her entourage would rather stay in their secluded garden literally walled off from the world (except for a persistent old pervert) than lift a finger to do anything, a casino is selling extremely rare species up to and including a 3D-printed sentient supercomputer that (you) will never ever ever be able to afford, and the yakuza oyabun is carrying a piece of technology that lets you see ghosts.

I understand. Hell, the most "grim" you can see in Celadon is a dude that's angry he lost everything in the casino, so he gives you his Coin Case.
I know Celadon technically has an open sewer, but since limitations are a thing, it looks like a small pool next to the casino with a man on the other side (probably the owner of that little house).

I'll see about doing the character sheet for Circe today. As she's the sister of Grym in my project, Circe shares the same surname as her sibling.
also today marks a full year since I created the first villain for my project, who is still popular amongst my small fanbase even now (being a psychotic seven foot tall alien woman probably helps the appeal)

Phos Guy drew this for a thread task based off of an alternate outfit that Miko made for Phos for another thread task.
>As a Gym Leader, Phos would set herself up in Black City or the dark alleyways of Castelia City away from the main thoroughfares. Her Challenge would be a test of street smarts--how well can you navigate an urban maze without getting in trouble? Trainers that aren't paying attention to their surroundings might get challenged by Roughnecks! In commendation of a challenger's victory, Phos awards the Eclipse Badge and gifts a TM for Dark Pulse--a rarity in Unova, created in collaboration with her old teacher, the Lentimas Town Move Tutor.
At the end of Gaiden 3, it's revealed that Phos was planning on challenging the Unova League. Apollo was mentoring her to get her life back together. She wanted to take some time off of work and thought her team was ready. It's implied that she wants to replace Grimsley as the Dark E4, which Phos Guy also mentioned when he posted this drawing as her goal even if she became a Gym Leader first (although Phos's goal was never actually stated to become a Gym Leader in the first place). But of course, that's not what happened, because Iron Bundle busted a cap in Apollo's ass, and then Phos decided to start showing off her midriff.

I normally shudder when I hear the words "metalcore" related to any kind of anime or Japanese context, because usually you get super poppy shit like what most people pass off as "metalcore" these days but I'm genuinely impressed with the sound of this. The riffing reminds me a lot of classic-era Unearth, All That Remains, and Darkest Hour, except without harsh vocals.

Better now, beau. But really, things are definitely on the upswing for me now that the performance jitters are out of my system. I had a tremendous amount of support from everyone in the office--and I do mean everyone--and beyond to rise to this position. In spite of it all, having so many people putting their hopes and dreams on my shoulders was just too much for a humble computer nerd like me to handle. When I'm feeling worried about something, I like to help people in any way I can. The more worried I am, the more desperate I am to make a positive difference. For better and worse, this has made its mark on the world over the years. But I had a good talk with my current manager this morning (and I guess future peer), and that did a lot to smooth out any lingering feelings.
It's always a treat seeing familiar writing styles show up in other threads. I really have to hold myself back from slipping into my /tog/ persona, but you did a great job on that side piece.

In a timeline where the paradoxes never occurred, Phos would have put all of the skills and lessons she learned to good use challenging the Unova League with the ultimate goal of claiming Grimsley's position in the Elite 4. This was her New Year's resolution, marking the turning point in embracing a new identity away from being a street thug (with help), and she hadn't really thought of what to do after that. The idea of having a "now what?" moment is a new concept for her.
Like the character she's inspired by, there's really nothing she couldn't accomplish with time; but I would lean towards becoming a parkour instructor, social worker, fashion model (she's sure got the height), an A&R scout for street musicians, et cetera.

A friend recently asked me if Emily feels fear at all. I figured I'd blab the same answer here in case people wondered about it.

She feels fear, but she doesn't respond to it in the same way normal people do. Where others feel crushed beneath it's tide, reduced to naught but a disheveled, mewling wreck, she feels nothing but seething rage. Anything that makes her feel any semblance of fear brings out an unfathomable anger, an unhinged, animalistic animosity, a murderous drive to utterly exterminate whatever caused it.

It starts with that tingle through one's extremities and then down her spine, the initial sensation that precedes the actual fear. A momentary pause as blank eyes suddenly widen and the air around her completely changes, like being stared at by a predator on the verge of attacking with the intention of tearing whatever threatened it to shreds. For all she can feel is a sudden eruption of anger, an anger that so intense her entire body shakes. Any foolish enemy would assume it was trembling...up until she has practically leapt into their rib cage and is ripping everything she can find in it clean out by hand, howling like an animal and practically roaring to the best her little voice can between frantic breaths as fear is met with murderous intent.

For Emily, Fear is Death. And the last time she was so much as faced with the possibility of Death, it was against Ghetsis and Kyurem. The invisible bond which ties together Emily and Mawlie came under intense strain as it's usual harmony became chaotic, frantic and frayed, and as those chaotic reverberations bounced off of their minds and hearts until something finally snapped. Mawlie involuntarily Mega Evolved as the sheer energy surge poured through them both, drove them mad and into a berserk fury as the power BURNED within them both and everything blurred into a cacophony of screams, roars and blood. When her senses became clear again, Kyurem was disfigured but alive-- by Mawlie's hands. Ghetsis was beneath herself-- dead-- as his blood was all over her and he was practically ripped apart and bludgeoned into an unrecognizable carcass.

Any fear response would bring her back to that moment and illicit that same rage. For it was her first taste of real fear of any kind.

Mari isn't a loli, she's like 5 feet tall. She's Kantonian though so that's like average height since a lot of Asian women are short. Just not gremlin level short. So there's actually only 3 "lolis". Most other characters in the setting will be rather normal. Or abnormal in more opposite ways from Emily, Arai and the companion to come in Chapter 4 in like a 100 years.
