I think it was just growing up, playing more different games and getting a standard of what is a good game instead of eating up all slop that has changed me.

Going back and replaying the Pkoémon games I once loved, they are very bad JRPGs all around in combat, story, characters and exploration.

You're missing the point of the whole tree thing.

The idea is that the dex cut is such a big deal that it caused people to look at other aspects of the game and the series, to wonder what we got in exchange for no longer being allowed to have any previous gen Pokémon, especially since they said stuff like "high quality animations" to justify it.

The leaked documents show that Ultra Sun and Moon was just Gamefreak having leftovers from a bunch of scrapped ideas from the base Sun and Moon games while also cancelling DLC plans. All the youtubers and "did you know" twitter posts are only going to focus on the cut content and not the very detailed change logs where they say things like "It's March and we don't have enough man hours to finish this scenario before the deadline, so put them in the battle tower"
