How come there are so many different animated pokemon projects now? I'm not complaining since they're all pretty high quality, Concierge, Poketoon etc, it's just that for the longest time it was basically just the Ash anime, then around the Sun and Moon era they just started to slowly start all these nice side projects.

The complete lack of news for ZA is absolute wild, it broke the longest stretch between Pokemon game's first reveal and more info a few months ago and it's still going. Not even a cinematic trailer showing what the starters are and bits of a city in the region like they did for SwSh's ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER. Either they're cooking up something fucking insane or something's gone really fucking wrong and they're crunching to fix it. Given what the leaks have revealed (PLA was gonna be October of 2021 before getting pushed back with BDSP being rushed out the door to not have a dead year and quell potential backlash over it deviating from Sinnoh, they're absolutely aware of the Dexit controversy and scared of further controversies, etc.) I can't imagine which it'd be.

Because LZA is releasing Holiday 2025 if not January 2026. They aren't allowed to properly market the game until it's six months from release, as per standard for Nintendo titles. You'll get a trailer with actual characters, Pokemon and gameplay for Pokemon Day 2025, but then it's back to radio silence until June-July.

With the current situation behind Aardman, this will be one of those Pokemon projects that will get a positive reception for the art direction involving clay, only to fall into deeper obscurity as the story probably underperforms or only targets the smart subset that enjoys Aardman who then fizzle out when it's potentially just gonna milk Kanto again or have the closest substitute possible for Kanto by replicating Kanto Characters, Kanto Pokemon and Kanto elements with stuff and Pokemon from other regions.

They started the animated side series trend with Gen 6's Origins anime mini series near XY's release. The one that was Kanto with a Mega Charizard ad. Then they did the Generations ONAs years later which were gen 1-6 nostalgia bait. What I think really made them confident about additional media series was Detective Pikachu though.

Mind, EVERY mid-Gen game, be it remake, rehash or now Legends titles only ever got two years development at most, because up to HGSS, the main GF team worked on main games, remakes and rehashes. When they had to delay DP, they ended up hiring a shitload of new staff fresh out of college and made a second dev team to work on HGSS initially, but then eventually BW2, USM, ORAS and now Legends.

They can take a decade to make the game as long as two things happen:

I wonder how much he is actually allowed to direct in terms of story. If it's in his hands, it's gonna be good. If he's just there to do the stop motion magic it's probably gonna be pretty meh.
