>>57062318The newer games have made it that the characters actually are literally speaking real world languages, it's not just being translated for us. They really are speaking Japanese/English/French/Spanish/whatever.
But still, words like "dog", "cat", and "mouse" would be created for the same reason they were in the real world; to describe a group of creatures that share similar traits. Mice or rodents as we know them in our world do not have to exist for the people in the Pokemon world to come up with the same word to describe their equivalents.
