Cogita is immortal and likely centuries old, so she's probably way more distantly related while it seems like Volo is a more recent edition to the bloodline and very well could be Cogita's own descendant or just one of the last of the Celestic people left besides herself. They all just look like that for some reason because you need to know that they're related to Cynthia.

Honestly, I don't feel like they are her direct ancestors, but rather it was a way to show the remnant of the celestica people, something like when Homer travels to India and looks for Apu's cousin, in our eyes all the celestica people look the same.

Ok I was waiting a long time for someone to make a relavant thread about this to post my theory.
To keep it short, I think Volo is not Cynthia's ancestor at all because of what happens(and probably will) on Pasio(Masters EX).
Volo may be a time traveler or something

Or that shitpost of mine about Cogita being Arceus taken human form to marry the re-incarnated Ancient Hero again and again is actually true and Cynthia IS a demi-goddess.

He's not, but gays and seethers can't accept that. Hell, he himself even says he swears to not rest until he achieves his goal of subjugating God. To me, that disavows having kids with anyone because kids are a succession plan, expecting to be replaced as you age and grow old. Volo swore he'd gain revenge on Arceus, if it took him centuries. Such actions point to not actually settling down long enough to have kids.

Akari appears in the past, if you choose to play as Lucas, if you play as Dawn, Rei is the boy who helps the professor. It's to mirror DP having the unpicked PC be the professor's assistant, but adapted to the time-travel plot they'd written for L: A.
