People always say that "4chan has never been good" but it's been noticeably gotten worse and worse as time has gone for a plethora of reasons I really don't feel like getting into.
Add to this how the internet has changed and how polarized and divided everything has become and how everyone always seems to be on edge. Tribalism and my side vs your side are at all time highs no matter the topic, there's no nuance or middle ground anymore anywhere, it's all 100 or 0.
But most of all, and directly related to Pokemon as a whole, is that it's that we're closing in to a decade of games that have been divisive at best. Moods are extremely low since, there's been very little to uplift people as a whole, a something that everyone can go "yeah, that was fine", there's always a but and an if, and after nearly a decade of this, it's no surprise people are exhausted and in low spirits and completely fatigued. And leaving the franchise for a while to then return does nothing to alleviate this since you'll still be returning to something mediocre at best.
The environments are in all varying degrees of damaged and unhealthy, and so is the franchise, it's no surprise everything sucks and everyone feels sucky. And even if you try to be positive, try to ignore the bad and focus on the good, it's really really hard when there's that cloud lingering over the top of our heads and so many people always trying to drag you down to their level.
