>>57098907>>57098929I pulled that Mewtwo EX secret rare from Breakthrough a few days ago kekI think the two Break sets were very good, I think Breakthrough was a lot like Flashfire in that it was good for fans of Mewtwo (like that was for fans of Charizard) but Breakthrough also has BREAKs, making the pull rates more generous and the selection of 'pulls' larger. I know BREAKs are not everyone's cup of tea but I am personally quite a fan of how weird they are.
>The regular Black Kyurem ex by kawayoo is very nice tooI also pulled a Zoroark by Kawayoo from Breakthrough too, I didn't realise he has been active for so long. I am a big fan of his half-art exs in the SV series, I fully agree with you on ex; I like GX now but they deviated too much from the idea of half-art ultra rares, and then Vs went even further and also looked ugly to boot. When I started buying packs again in 2022 I was quite confused about what the difference actually was between V, VMax and alt art cards for the same reason as you.
>Rainbow cards ad nauseam Yeah, this is very true. It felt like sets were a lot more completable up until Steam Siege, and a card being secret actually meant something. Now for any given set you get at least 30 'secret' cards on top of the normal set list, which devalues the whole concept in my mind.
>red Gyrados>full metal DialgaThese are some of my favourites too, they really experimented a lot with secrets in XY too. They started of more similar to the BW secrets with golden borders, then they went to those psuedo-alt arts from Breakpoint onwards.
Phantom Forces is a great set but it just sucks how expensive it is now. I hope the market crashes and this older stuff gets a little cheaper. PrimetimePokemon used to open really old booster boxes on his channel and those boxes cost like $600 at the most (for Base Set).
