If owning a Rotom phone is humane, then selling Rotom phones is also humane. The Rotoms that inhabit these phones are specially bred specifically for this purpose, they're cowardly and don't like to leave once they're inside.

Rotom was one of my favorite gen 4 pokemon and one of my fav ghost types, the way they massacred my boy is astounding
>went from a rare mischievous pokemon that you could only get a night inside a spooky mansion and can possess various household appliances to take advantage over the enemy
>to a comic relief annoying piece of shit in gen 7 and now completely cucked inside a phone so kids can play with it like a toy

That always bugged me. Rotom is meant to be an elecrric ghost that possesses electric equipment to power itself up.
Being reduce to an on board AI makes me feel trying to capture one. Like, he is a Pokémon. Having a Rotom phone wouldn't mean you bought a Pokémon with a cellphone? Why is the Rotom inside my phone different from the Rotom that possesses a dishwasher or a fan?

I understand the thought behind rotom phone/rotom dex but the ethical implications of it feel so bad. there was already so much advanced non-rotom technology (matter conversion w/ pokeballs being sent to lab, levitating platforms for battle judges, the regular dex, etc.) and now like EVERYTHING is powered by pokemon who, what, live in a device for its whole life? I know it's not that deep but it feels really bleak.
