I can only remember the ones in OR never really into them prior but i gave it a try, I liked the effect you got if you got all the ribbons and then the super one i think it is.

The ORAS contests are based on the RSE ones but with some changes, notably the implementation of Pokéblocks is more simple and easy, the Sheen Stat is entirely ignored. I liked how it was possible to Mega Evolve in a contest, and all those contest-exclusive Moves that we're kind of like what we got with Z-Moves later.

I also like that they added that, a nice new entrance animation for getting all the new contest Ribbons, kind of like what Pokéstar Studios did. BDSP also added something like that too.

We did get some good contest talk in the last two threads. I made this thread and the previous one. I made the previous thread when after one day from the first one another thread wasn't made so I just decided to make another, I tried to keep the opening posts of both this thread and the previous one similar to the one of the first thread. IDK if the OP of the first thread is here or was in the previous thread.

I do feel this general could do well based on the last two threads, we are just starting off slow. We just need to keep the threads bumped and make a new thread if one hits archive.

I'd suggest you go for it if you feel you can, since you're playing in gen 3, but it will be difficult.

We did sort of get that and a little story of sorts for contests in ORAS. That sounds like something that would be done properly in a full contest-focussed game.

I agree, I'd like the contests to be like in the Hoenn games. As for the Pokéblock system, I'd go for something in between what gen 3 and gen 6 did. Gen 6, I feel makes it too simple and even ignores the Sheen Stat. But gen 3 is the opposite, like you said, is convoluted, I don't like how little is explained and really don't like how it's possible to permanently have your Pokémon not be able to get max Stats.

This is something I really think about. We have a decompilation of gen 3, not only that but also actual gen 3 source code from leaks. Yet there's stuff relating contests such as Pokéblocks which is still not known.

Perhaps those of us here can research to figure things out and find new stuff.

I intend to review it closer.
Got to look through the source + code comments in the leaked Emerald source + maybe I will utilize some automated help by semantic search and keywords within the teraleak's documents.

They really wanted to make it hard to decipher, seemingly, I would like to find some (ideally Morimoto's) thought on the design process.

I love them and we had some entertaining characters involved, both in Gen 3 and Gen 4. My biggest grudge is that they let May loose to Dawn at the Wallace cup.
