Pokémon is inherently about collecting Pokémon. Wanting to trade rare items with each other in Dragon Quest was one of the catalysts for Pokémon's creation. Yet Gamefreak was unable to consistency create fun ways to get rarer versions of regular Pokémon. Dexnav the best method was just as frustrating as it was addicting. The fact people wanted the Ability Patch so bad and celebrated when they finally got it proves that Gamefreak are incompetent when it comes a core appeal of the series.
