Silver is just too iconic, im still liking his re-appearance in SM tho, but because is the moment when we finally has back as an adults (even if is just Red and Blue) child characters from the past as grown ups, he looks like he finally reconciled with his childhood friend and that he is back to the public, and that he is doing fine, it kinda expand more his character even if just a little, his BW2 and LGPE appearances are were i feel are just empty fanservice, because they dont add nothing new about him, the only thing i like about him in LGPE is that they give him venusaur and arcanine
