>>57168030That area was likely caused by war, same with the Desert Resort/Route 4. People tend to forget that Unova had a lot of infighting in it's past before a hero rose up and saved the people assumedly. Now getting into headcanon/fanfic territory, AZ's weapon fires to the west, Unova/Alola are the only things directly to the west at that point in the series, the desert is also the only place that you can find Yamask (a Pokemon that was once a dead human). It's safe to say that Unova and Kalos were probably at war at some point thousands of years ago, with the remaining people/hero ending up settling for peace rather than war, with the desert/league plateau being results of said war and infighting. The desert does have ruins on Route 4 that resemble the set up of the way an old city would have been, some of the ruins go underground suspiciously similar to an ancient subway system, and you find the other dragon's stone (not N's from the Chosen Hero) right by the Desert Resort, meaning it was likely caught in the blast too.
