>>57168227Monster tamer is the term I see the most. Or Creature collector.
>>57168175SMT is fun, but everything always just comes down to Humanoid or vishnu. You gotta go out your way to use shit critters you might like.
Cassette beasts is ok. The music is nice, and some of the monsters look cool. The partner fusion look like ass, but that's not something you keep around. And it's got multiplayer so that's something. If you're looking for a pokemon like game you can go for that.
Digimon games are to varied to really say, Play digimon. Since every digimon game is completely fucking different, you got a farming game, then a dungeon cralwer, an overworld rpg, a rts and one time they had gauntlet legends. all in the same naming. But cybersleuth is on pretty much everything so if you want to give it a try go for it. There's some solid monster designs.
Yokai watch, I only played the first one, so I can't really judge but the monster designs felt to asian for me. I'm sure a lil jap will love taming grampa with a really long tongue, or old lady with long arms. But for me most of them looked like shit. Except for the coom bait, those designs are pretty cool.
Monsterhunter stories.
Great game probably one of my favorite in the monster tamer area because it's not trying to be pokemon in any way. It's a sort of rock paper scissors where moves fall into one of 3 areas, strong, technical, and fast. You can fight alongside your monster. It's pretty fun. there's still elemental matchups etc. The only gripe I have is end game trying to make the "perfect monster" Where you need to have a entire box full of shitmon in order to genetically fuse with your monster.
Also has the SMT issue where your favorite monster may become useless at the end stretch.
Fortunately they have some variants, so you can get, RAGING blastoise sort of thing.
These are all more modern games I'm not really gonna go into older games.
Palworld is early access. I aint paying for that till its done
