Ash travels through Paldea aimlessly, just for the pleasure of the trip, meeting his traveling companions who join together due to different circumstances, Nemona being assigned (self-assigned would be more correct) as a guide at Geeta's request, Arven in search of rare ingredients, and Penny as punishment by Superintendent Clavell, the different touch would be the introspection of the characters during the journey, Nemona's escapism through battles, Arven's family relationship, and the reason for Penny's rebellion, and of course a big part of the charm would be seeing their personalities clash unlike the Alola gang who were already a united group.
There would be changes for this version such as making each one belong to a different school, which would explain their enmity, Nemona from Naranja Academy, Arven from Uva Academy, and as an exchange from Galar, Penny with an original school, Apple Academy. Also giving it a different focus, Nemona being class president being stricter with the rules, Arven being a treasure hunter prefers field trials and doesn't mind breaking rules, and Penny being a rebel gets involved in underground races.
A big change to add would be the inclusion of Professors Sada and Turo, as well as Peony and Peonia, with a strong emphasis on the contrast between neglectful parents (Arven), overprotective parents (Penny), and absent parents (Nemona).
