if you buy violet even if you get it cheap you are only getting half the game, the latter half of the story is locked behind the dlc

Nope, Paldea's story starts and finishes with basegame. The DLC's story is about introducing Kieran, starting his character arc, and then concluding it.

you shouldn't buy any of those games because 3D era gamefreak and TPC lazy as fuck and they don't desrve to earn money. SV are the worst games in the whole series and gen 1 will most certainly be worse. they STILL have brought back natdex, optional exp share, all those cut moves, battle facilities (or any sort of good post game really) and so many more features. the game doesn't even have good graphics to compensate. it looks like a N64 game. SV are very low effort games

SV is one of the most ambitious games they had to far, they just didn't give themselves the time needed to polish it
The open world stuff clearly took tons of work, and even then they included some details like Pokémon sleeping in the shade, certain Pokémon having specific interactions etc
Also it's literally the first time they didn't completely half-ass the story
There's some other stuff that shows that it's definitely not low effort slop, if anything it shows that their scope was too big for such a small timeframe. The graphics being bad has very little to do with it, I guess unless you're one of those graphics obsessed morons who would rather play with a polished turd instead of an actually good game

Scarlet/Violet's fun if you just want a region to explore. The battles are never really super challenging.
There's no level scaling or guidance as to where to go, so I just built random teams from my boxes when doing important fights.
