This is the executive just before you defeat the Electrode, and the mons are half my fucking level. The wild mons are so weak, only the obligatory Red Gyarados is above level 20.

Because Game Freak didn't want to make Pokemon anymore when making Crystal. They were trying to get out of their contract with Nintendo so that they would be allowed to make real games, so they made all the trainers in Crystal weak babyshit to insult the players intelligence. Johtods were just too stupid to realize they were being insulted, Wacky Deli Effect

Because the game is designed to be played with 6 team members. The Gyarados should be a bit higher than your team which makes catching it a challenge normally. If you're twice the level, then you're just playing it wrong.

Raise more than one pokemon, don't spend hours grinding in grass. I replayed Silver recently, battled almost every trainer in the game (just missed a few south of Blackthorn) and my highest level pokemon was 42 in hall of fame. That was with a 5 pokemon party btw, with six it is even lower.

I'm not OP, but I had the opposite problem. I ran a team of 6 the whole game, and had to do hours of grinding to get my team to an acceptable level for the elite 4 and then for Red. I spent most of the game running around with a team in the 30s unable to find any pokemon to battle for xp over level 20 outside of like 3 routes in Johto and Mt. Silver.

The problem is there physically aren't enough XP points to not grind if you build your team how you would in other games. I had Dragonite and Exeggutor and Skarmory on my team because there's usually enough xp to run a few slow growth mons on your team. If I ever played it again, I'd only run the 3 fastest level up groups, it's brutal for slow growth mons.

Am OP, not >>57176836, but I don't remember Grinding anywhere. Not Minimum Battles, obviously, but unless fighting the trainers on a route the one time you first meet them counts as grinding, i kinda just fought as I went. Wild pokemon just waste PP, so theyre ran from, and even then I'm just over level 47 after Pryce. No romhack, no grinding as explained, just Feraligatr because after Whitney (where even then I was nearing level 30), nothing is worth catching, grinding up, and using.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it goes. There's more than enough XP for 1 mon, even if you do minimal battles, because almost all the XP in the game is in the trainer battles. Conversely, if you do try to run a full team, there aren't enough trainer battles because as you said the trainers also have under-leveled pokemon.

This is a skill issue. You play the game normally, you'll be around 40 for E4, and low 50's for Red.
This is more than enough to get through both.

Am op, who tf is yawnfag? I just dislike how the gb johto games have a cripplingly low level throughout the game. The rival fight, after the 7th gym, maxes out at level 32. Almost every 7th gym in the series is in the early to mid 40s, while Pryce is in the early 30s. What the fuck is the level curve?
