The problem is that the extreme polarisation of the internet AND the urge to make absolutely everything about (American flavoured) politics is largely caused by Americans. It's very obvious that it's due to very mentally ill people - and that the mental illness is running so goddamn rampant because the vast majority of people just don't have any way of getting help. Sure, genetics play a part as well, as does how you've been raised, but I do think it's largely a mental health problem. These people literally let their brain rot away through their internet usage.
It's not just /pol/fags, I see it in all kinds of communities, like all the moralfags who witch hunt Japanese artists because they draw "CP" (art of a 16 year old character in a slightly provocative pose). No mentally sane person would waste their time with shit like this. Note how both of these groups apply real world ideologies on fictional settings and characters. It's because they lost grip on reality and start conflating it with fiction until they treat both exactly the same. No mentally sane person does this. And it's getting awfully common.
