To us oldfags, this gap year was not a surprise. The only surprise was taking it mid-gen and seemingly unforced. Where '05's gap year was forced by the wi-fi issues in Gen 4 and '15 was caused by Gen 7 killing its prospective project, '24 was them taking a seemingly natural breather.
