1) no rings or at least rectangular rings with sheets that have some space between the holes and the pockets, to avoid card denting
2) zip to protect against dust
3) side loading to avoid losing cards if you keep the binder upside down (redundant if you keep the zip closed)
4) no shit-tier plastic for the pockets (pvc free) as it deteriorates and becomes yellow over time. In any case don't put naked cards into any binder, use at minimum pvc-free penny sleeves
5) solid materials for the cover without being low tier plastic/fake leather which become sticky or deteriorates over time
The most widely used ones such as Vault X, Card Guardian, etc. just happen to check all the above boxes while being the cheapest ones in the market.
