For me, nothing's wrong with what seems like a cool demon pig that happens to have fire patterns, a fire beard (cool to me), and being fat and released last type wise didn't bother me. Serperio's comp-ability didn't matter to me either.

I think it's the best they could have made the song to fit all scenarios
As for the sprites I thought they were anything but boring, but did have room for improvement especially moving to later hardware, had they stayed on sprites
