Lysandre is Cyrus, fitting the latter’s JP name referring to the color red, his solar motif, and sharing a goal of wiping the slate clean. The differences come from Lysandre being open about his passions while Cyrus suppresses them, with Lysandre seeing his motive as a necessary evil and Cyrus acknowledging his as purely selfish. Diantha is also obviously a contrast to Cynthia; her top heavy outfit, white color scheme, and short dark hair contrasts Cynthia’s bottom heavy outfit, black color scheme, and long blonde hair. Diantha’s coloring also references Cynthia’s JP name, and the teraleak confirmed the former was designed to accompany the latter (something we wouldn’t see until Journeys because Gamefreak rushed past Gen 6 for the anniversary).
