What Unova’s story was trying to do was too big-brained for Pokémon fans and Game Freak themselves. It was trying to deconstruct then reconstruct the series’s main premise but Game Freak being Game Freak half-assed it and Pokefans begin Pokefans would be too stupid to get it anyway so you have stupid shit like Plasma beating up a Pokémon for no reason other than to cut the legs off any argument they could have had and you have Pokémon fans still thinking plasma was the good guys

So the story isn’t deep or meaningful at all and it’s the same stupid shit, and no one is “misunderstanding” anything about its weak story, and anyone who says otherwise played BW when they were 8 and thought it was the greatest game of all time.

To make sure that Team Plasma didn't have a genuine point that looked to completely deconstruct the entire identity and foundation of the Pokemon World and our perspective of the franchise.
Whenever a kid sees them preaching after that point, they will ALWAYS think of that scene where they're abusing that Munna to remember "these guys are full of crap, let's get 'em!!!" and not lose track of the plot.
