And yet despite all this, good ol Moth Ra was basically an OU staple until SV where it finally reached fucking Ubers status. No longer fears the sticky pebbles thanks to The Boots, too. I don't keep up with VGC too much so I can't talk on that Meta but you'd definitely see good results using one on cart.
Volcarona is absolutely a great Pokemon. It is very much "Him", to borrow todays' youth's vernacular.

Volcarona is historically shit at dealing with those sorts of teams since Chansey can easily whittle it's health down with Toxic and Seismic Toss. Mantine too since it's Specially Defensive and Volcarona has few moves it could realistically quickly take it down with. Doesn't help that with the additions of Toxapex, Tapu Fini.

Not really, it's a fantastic Pokemon don't get me wrong but it has hard counters. Pissed Butterfree got the Gigantamax Mothra form when Volcarona exists.

Volcarona would have been a perfect fit, though to be fair, Butterfree is one of the few Kanto Pokemon that isn't constantly dicksucked and its counterpart beedrill got a Mega. Also Volcarona later got two Paradoxes. If anything Venomoth was the one who was robbed.

Anon, it’s a Venomoth counterpart if anything.

Anyway, I’m disappointed that they decided to do a slow ice/bug type. Literally DOA. According to the teraleak, Pheromosa was conceived as an ice/bug type initially, hence its figure skater look and how it randomly learns ice attacks in the final game. We could have gotten an absolutely insane fast ice type for our first ice/bug, but no.
