To this day, my brothers are still making references to Charizard, Raichu and Dragonite and my mother loves the bones off of Pikachu and Mew because of The First Movie.
You can hate it in retrospect, but it was a perfectly fine audience surrogate kids shit show way back before it started becoming an excessively formulaic marketing tool.
