Blue and Gold were my older brothers games so I mainly watched him over his shoulder playing (eventually erased his saves once he lost interest).

My first playthrough was Sapphire which I stole from some kid at story (I was a little bastard). My dad bought me FR in 2004.

i had fire red first, because i wanted emerald but the box rating "E" was on the other side, blocked by the casing at target, and i was afraid my dad wouldnt buy it for me...
so I bought fire red, and when i got to the old man tutorial i didnt know i was supposed to go to the pokemart first, and when he said "wait for me to get my morning coffee" i waited real world hours and would check back the next day.
thought it was broken, and then i bought emerald...
so emerald...

Leaf Green on emulator, but I got bored early on and tried Emerald instead, which I played through entirely. Still haven't finished any Kanto game.
First physical game was a (legit) Emerald cart I bought for a few bucks on eBay.

Blue. I even remember selling it to fucking GAMESTOP years later for $0.50. My dad was like "it's just .50? I'll buy it off you" but then we were shown a case of literally hundreds of Pokemon Red and Blue by the employee and he was like "yeah okay, I guess it is just worthless", and then the covid Pokemon boom happened and it's worth $50 now
