The setting is utter trash, big cities, skycrapers, huge bridges are the exact opposite of what I think when I think of adventure and they abandoned the fantasy element of the previous gens for realism (city on trees). The idea of seasons is great but it's implemented in a retarded way (who the fuck thought having a 1:1 ratio was a good idea? You'll end up never seeing 3 of the 4 seasons, I ended up changing the date on my ds to summer because I was tired of looking at an entirely brown game lol), the designs are awful for the first time, gen4 still had some good stuff, now you have buttplug dragons and literal trashbags hahaha.

You will think I'm a troll but I don't care, for example gen9 is much better than anything after gen5 and in my opinion it's on par with gen3 and 4, which are the best.
gen5 was still a decent game, gen6 was awful. gen7 I don't even want to play right now, I need to clean my palate with an Emerald playthrough first and maybe Platinum's post game.
gen8 looked like a 3DS game with some redeeming qualities, it started the uptick trend.
LA was a great game.
Just because you like pokemon, you don't have to think that all games are good, that would be a cultist mentality. Also what you enjoy doesn't have to necessarily be good.
