Animals only made sense when there only 151 species with very basic powers.

With over 1000 species, some of which are reality warpers, animals make little sense.

Yeah, it worked because there weren't many equivalents, now that these exist there is no need to fill spaces with a common animal, plus it was very one-sided, it's better to see the interactions between Pokemon.

Things actually made a lot more sense when there were real animals and Pokemon were implied to be invasive creatures from space and taking over the ecosystem. I mean, if Pokemon were here from the start and not a recent thing, then why are you filling out a Pokedex? Shouldn't the scientists of the Pokemon world have already catalogued every known species by now if they were always here? If so, then why don't they start you off with a full 'Dex right from the start? Wouldn't already having all that info on-hand be far more useful to a young kid travelling the world instead of updating the information after the fact?

It looks pretty stupid in the anime when they have guards wielding batons like Team Galactic did. Also the anime shying away from showing anyone eating meat or any meat products post OS is definitely sanitizing.

this isn't even a 4kids addition.

that said, there's nothing saying that's actually a symbol of crucifixion, and not say, an oversimplified version of the Arceus cross around its torso, which we've seen as a religious symbol.
