Monster Sanctuary and Siralim Ultimate both stand out to me as hard games that fully heal and revive you after fights.
Given how easy it is to 1-shot enemies and take no damage in Pokemon with even a minor level advantage it might be better for Pokemon to swap to that idea. Or just cause enough stat squash that you can't outlevel and sweet enemies effortlessly anymore, PLA was a good step in that direction. Pokemon half your level could still take off 20% of your health in a hit instead of doing less than 2% a hit, it was refreshing.
