I even think Calyrex is more suitable than Eternatus as a trio member.
The three represent royalty, they all three have descriptions on the official website which highlight their grace and an extreme characteristic (slicing everything, parrying everything and an intelligence which allows to see the future, the present and the past) .
They all represent things that allow a kingdom to prosper. The wolves are royal knights who attack or defend, where Calyrex directs it and makes food grow.
They all have a strange interaction with the Dynamax phenomenon (the wolves can't and use it, where Calyrex uses its own energy to keep control and not go crazy).
They have all already faced Eternatus, and came away covered in wounds for the wolves, and Calyrex came away traumatized and injured. We have the trio of colors “green”, “blue” and “red”.
Eternatus would also be linked to the "trio", but as an antagonist.
We also know that the DLCs aim to replace the third version, which implies that Terapagos and Calyrex act as the main legendary which completes the mascot duo.
Similarly, Koraidon and Miraidon are the mascots of the Scarlet and Violet books, where Terapagos is represented by White Book.
Terastellar's ability is made to "counter" the abilities of Koraidon and Miraidon by removing the fields and the weather.
One comes from the distant past and refers to what is ancient, while the other to the future.
There, where Terapagos has fun with the dimensions of time, not to mention the Teracristal energy of which he is the source which powers the time machine which brought them back to the present. Its shape changes which give the impression that it is timeless as if it could become younger or older (it's symbolic).
