Realtalk I actually love Zarude's design and if it were the final evolution for Grookey, it'd come very close to my favorite starter ever.
I can't quite explain it, but something with Zarude's design just clicks with me.
Unfortunately Zarude just sucks competitively, and Rillaboom is arguably the best Grass starter ever competitively.
But if you just took Zarude's design and slapped it onto Rillaboom, and kept everything else belonging to Rillaboom (Maybe keep the partial Dark typing?) it'd be so good.

Zarude does kind of have an almost punk vibe to it, so could even work thematically. Honestly fucking crazy they make such a cool looking primate like that and also something as bad as Rilaboom in the same gen.

i didn't even know this mon existed until the pokemon go event for it
and i barely remember this mon exists because, as it sits in my box, it's not at a high enough CP level (saying that sounds wrong) for me to care about using it for raids/gym bashing, plus it doesn't appear in the wild and i have more important things to use rare candies on
