A Kanto remake is inevitable; it'll be the 30th anniversary of the franchise next year. How should they approach it?
Myself I'd say:
>Add some completely new Pokemon to the region, to keep things fresh, rebalance the game/type distribution and so it's not just the same Ekans and Rattatas everywhere
>Subtly redesign some of the Kanto Pokemon that don't fit with the aesthetic of the series anymore to try and reduce the early-installment weirdness a bit
>Throw in Mega Evolutions to postgame as a shout-out to Generations
>Reduce some of the edgier elements of the story ("Dead" Pokemon in the Pokemon Tower are just "lost" instead)
>EXP share
>Make it so fainted Pokemon still gain EXP, just not as much as they would otherwise
>Remove the trading necessity to evolve certain Pokemon (looking at you, Gengar)
>Allow crossgen evos before postgame (one of the few flaws with FRLG was not letting you do that)
>Make Gary less of a complete douchebag
