>>57335891>It's easier to think of it as every time the game spits out 8192 random numbers one of those has a chance to be shiny. That is where the 1/8192 comes from and the game spits out 60 random numbers every second.Yeah, that's a more practical way to look at it.
Also I see now where I went wrong in my logic. This video was the main one I watched that explained the RNG for shiny hunters (
https://youtu.be/3nU2SV4hyng), and I understood that on average you can find a shiny frame in a couple of minutes, meaning you were free to turn off the game according to them... but it never explained the part about the RNG looping after 2 minutes and 17 seconds elapsed like you mentioned earlier.
I figured if I were to leave the game running perpetually there would be a constant slew of unique frames. Whole time, I was likely hitting the same frames regardless, lol. Thanks for educating me anon!
Either way, phrasing the message -
>>57325528 >I had to leave the system on for more or less the whole time.- this way -- while somewhat vague to avoid getting into the minutae of it all -- was still very misleading regardless, so thanks for calling it out.
