Emerald ROWE's 2.0 version dropped recently, and Polished Crystal's full 9bit version finally dropped a day ago.

As for fakemon hacks... Elite Redux 2.5 dropped a couple months back with plenty of fakemon forms, like new evos, regionals (with new evos), paradoxes, and convergents.
Check out the video above about Pisces, dropping in March. The Redd*it link has multiple trailers about it.

I mean there's a lot of factors you have to account for. Ultimately the most secure setup would probably be a client/server setup with the server being a VPS. Otherwise you're going to be dealing with people exposing their IPs. That isn't necessarily a problem either if someone wanted to self host their own server to facilitate connecting with trusted parties. That's how the plugin I'm using now works.

I should've said "anti-cheat", not security. I was already considering server/client, me proposing LAN in my first post was more so "should I include that too?"

Oh yeah that's easy then. Just implement saves at integral parts. Just think of all possible scenarios. I modified the plugin I'm using because before it would go through the whole trade process without saving a single time. So I could trade something to someone then just reset my game and still have what I traded. I made it to where it triggers a save before you enter the trade menu and then trigger a save again as soon as a trade completes successfully.

Cute trio. My first romhack experience Firered Omega had you start with the elemental siblings Magby/Elekid/Smoochum, and then Unbound has the sandstorm pseudo trio of Larvitar/Beldum/Gible. Novel starter choices like that are always fun, so long as they're buffed up a bit, if necessary, to keep pace.

It's been about 4.5 years now since the project got announced, 4 years since the Twitlonger talking about the development hell, 2 years since the name change to Aurora Crystal, and just over a year since Dray mentioned the gen 5/6 mons being added with HG-Engine (potentially 7 too?). He retweeted AphexCubed's post about BBVW2 Redux recently so he's still kicking thankfully.

Overall it's been a long time now, but there's been lots of progress it would seem, and it would appear the scope of the project has transformed a lot over the years. He was also helping AphexCubed make BBVW2 Redux, which definitely took some attention away from Aurora Crystal.

Call it feature-creep, but the prospect of later gen mons in gen 4 makes the wait all the more worth it, for me anyways. Either way, Drayano has been making hacks for over 15 years now, he's a grown guy and I'm sure life is busy on his end. Same with all other hack creators frankly, and the anticipation is part of the fun.

I'm sure you know most of this already, but never hurts to remind others who're feeling impatient. I myself finally gave in and played SG again about this time last year.

Alright, final revision ideas. I'm making makuhita part electric type. So, I'll kinda give a rough draft of what I'm trying to go for. Shoot it down if it's terrible.

>The game is centered around Japanese bike gangs instead of gym leaders.
>You play as a Rookie delinquent who hasn't gotten a pokemon yet
You take your GF out on a date and she nags on you for not having one.
>See carnival games to win a free prized pokemon.
>The game you choose determines the starter.
>Once you pick your starter, the carnival gets trashed up by a well known gang and gets robbed.
>Your GF gets captured and it's your job to save her. Think of double dragon or River City Ransom as the theme to the story.
>You go through rival schools, abandoned warehouses, and ghetto towns to eventually take on the biggest and baddest gang.

I really feel in the mood to play a HGSS romhack, but also don't want to play Sacred Gold because of the wait. I'm already scratching the itch with Renegade Platinum and was playing Black 2 Redux until the announcement.

Yeah I went off an existing plugin. I further modified it to give a 128 total. EV gain is based on nature. Attack and special attack are tied together. Also added ways to reset them. Makes it less grindy but at the same time can give a nice stat boost.

From what I've read in the server 9bit is only an expansion for Pokemon count, and 10bit is what will allow them to expand the total moves past 255. Until then, yeah, only so much you can do with 255 slots.

Would enable all of them except Affection Bonuses. Fuck that shit, I'm getting BDSP PTSD.
-Maybe axe EV Gain if opponents don't have any, but if they do it could make for a decent challenge.
-Natures could potentially be obnoxious if you want to run more mixed sets without penaties, especially if movepools are slim. Quite dependant on PSS I guess.
-Evolve within battle sounds cool, first time hearing of that.

Putting together some thoughts to spruce up Kanto in the GSC post-game. The running thread is the impact of the region's urbanization (in contrast to the very rural Johto), building on the sparseness of Kanto in the original games.

>Viridian Forest
Very recently burned down, with Harsh Sunlight weather and some overworld fog. The native Caterpie and Weedle are gone, replaced by Slugma.

>Mt. Moon and Cerulean Cave
Collapsed due to excessive mining and excavation in the area. Mt. Moon's layout is mostly the same as in GSC, with the addition of a basement level. The basement is flooded, and Dive can be used to access an underwater tunnel. The tunnel emerges in the basement of Cerulean Cave, where Mewtwo awaits.

>Rock Tunnel and the Power Plant
Route 10 now runs clean through what was once Rock Tunnel, as a fully lit paved tunnel. A gateway to the east leads to the Power Plant entrance. A gateway to the west leads to the caverns. In the caverns, workers are repairing the underground power lines running to Saffron City, as they are constantly under attack from the electric Pokemon displaced from the Power Plant. Zapdos is roosting at the mountain's summit.

>Cinnabar Island
The volcano has still erupted and destroyed the town, but it is larger and can be explored. Fossil mons, the sole survivors from the Cinnabar Lab, can be found in the caves, as can Moltres.

>Seafoam Islands
Blaine still has a gym in a cave, but the actual Seafoam Island dungeon (and Articuno) can only be reached by Diving through fissures in the ocean floor.

>Safari Zone
The Safari Zone is closed down, but the area is still accessible. Reclaimed by nature with the imported Pokemon roaming wild, it is now a spooky forest stocked with high level Pokemon and trainers.

Though maybe it's because there's barely anyone in gen 3 with a slaking, and I don't feel like doing this for every generation. That's something for a youtuber with too much free time to make, but a ghost or quick fighting type run circles around the dumb apes.

Johto's level curve is stunted compared to the other games to accomodate the extra badges. 6 badges puts you at what? Level 30 or so? Many mons are just barely getting out of their crappy early game phase.

The fire burned a westward trail into the forest, and it runs steeply up the side of Indigo Plateau. Lots of switchbacks and rocky walls to climb. This is where Moltres is roosting, instead of Cinnabar.

One thing I wanted to add was to add more counters types.
So for example say we have an Onix with Harden and Body Press.
Harden adds 1 Shield/Absorb/Body/Defense Counter (still have to figure out a name, which blocks 1 Damage counter (consuming it in the process).
Body Press does bonus damage depending on how many such counters you have.

I have a physical copy of Emerald in Italian and I want to inject mystery gifts. As far as I know you can do that either with PKhex with the plugin for events or with the tool for gen 3 mystery gifts called WC3 Tool. I already have a copy of my savefile on pc and can move it to the cartridge with GB Operator.

First problem is WC3 Tool won't open my savefile. After looking into it it seems to be because the savefile has added information from an emulator, they say to delete the last 16 bytes from the savefile and to use HxD to edit it but I'm tech illiterate and I failed because WC3 still won't open it.
This would be my preferred method of injection.

Second problem is I managed to get the plugin to work with Pkhex but now I have to import the events from somewhere and I have no idea from where.

Please be patient, I'm tech illiterate.

I've played about half of it on a GBC and only noticed one issue. One time I scrolled through the town map really quick and caused a crash, but I was never able to reproduce it.

I'm not sure if it would affect /v/ that bad, maybe initially because people would spam it in outrage over /vp/ being deleted. but over time it could be absorbed into several boards - /v/, /vg/, /vr/, /vrpg/, /vm/, /vmg/ and some of the anime and drawing boards all have space for different niches of the franchise. I think the discord schizos would eventually give up because it would become too fractured, and trolling a big board like /v/ to the extent that they do here is basically impossible. it's only so effective here because of the relatively slow traffic.

Except for USUM, which according to yawnie are the perfect games because you CAN'T solo them with your starter thanks to various early trainers and Totem Araquanid setting the tone for your experience.

Some people might be more drawn in if there's familiar faces, and opportunities to use official mons they still haven't had the chance to. I played all the way to the E4 in Pokimals just to find out VCRchitect didn't bother to ensure you could actually fight them. Also had to un-softlock myself quite a few times when doors would randomly not open. But I was weaned on Pokemon Snakewood, so I always have preventative save states for technical emergencies. He patched it all now, but I kind of wish I'd waited for the fixed version, I don't know if I'll go back to it.

Does anyone know of a good hack that completely changes the gameplay style/loop that's old/actually finished? I liked the replacing the normal gameplay with a dungeon thing.

Intentional, there's instead a fixed encounter in one of the new Johto areas. You can't actually battle and catch it until you get a Silph Scope from Kanto, though.

I doubt Tinted Lens would help since you already hit practically the entire game for neutral between both stabs. Which leaves Insomnia and Keen Eye.

Balance for the mon changes seems all over the place. Ghost/Flying Noctowl is mediocre, but the Normal/Ground Dunsparce I caught in the Dark Cave before fighting Falkner carried until the very end.

Ghost/Flying is a problem for Noctowl because it gains some annoying weaknesses in Ghost/Dark which are fairly prolific in Johto and it doesn't help that its slow.
The Totodile line kind of sucks to use because they just don't hit hard enough until you get Sheer Force. Before then, you kinda just have to try something with Assault Vest + Intimidate as a bootleg Incineroar. Oh well, it could have been Meganium who's 4x weak to Poison in Johto of all places.

I think I've seen people complain about the gimmicks on lower difficulties too, but you can toggle them yourself and see.
Bird milf is one of the most obnoxious generally, I'd recommend trading her daughter an Onix for an Electrode, and when I fought her on Insane I also used a Minior and Delibird you can catch early, and a Gligar and Ampharos. In my latest Expert playthrough I also used an Onix.
If you aren't using a GodScanner like me maybe you'll want to hack in some rare candies, idk, up to you. I've got a code if you need it

Bug/Dark Ariados sounded fun until the game started throwing Fairies at me and the only Dark move it gets via level-up is Sucker Punch. It doesn't even get Poison Jab until really late.

That's something I really dislike about Polished as a whole. I get that there is still a limited move list, but distribution is just awful on a lot of mons while others get amazing moves early on that I stick with forever. Like Cloyster, or Mismagius just needing a couple of easily-found Gold Leaves to get Shell Smash and Flamethrower, respectively.
It's got really great features for a GBC game, but the actual design leaves much to be desired.

The changes in Dryano's hacks "work" because he also made sure to update the movepools so they feel good. This hack copies the GF movepools for some mons while changing others or doing weird level curves so it feels off.

No problem anon, first time I fought her she washed me for a long ass time so I understand the frustration. The gym leader gimmicks are a common pain point, but they're much easier to stomach when you know what to expect. The last two in particular are pretty fun imo.

Just a note on Onix, it still has 45 atk, but that can be compensated with the dreaded Head Smash and Rock Head combo. Unfortunately Head Smash is an egg move, trivial for the Godscanner to add but annoying or possible otherwise. Still has 160 base defense FWIW. Just wanted to give you a heads up, good luck anon!

Okay, I have next to zero experience, and this is going to be the 3rd time I attempt to make the game that I want, so any help/feedback is greatly appreciated. My goal is essentially to make a Battle Tower (later expanded into Battle Frontier) sym. You can get any Pokémon with ease, same with changing their moves, natures, IVs, and EVs with little to no effort.

Phase 1: Learn essentials basics.
Phase 2: Make basic map with area that gives out Pokemon as well as customization.
Phase 3: Learn how to set up and customize a Battle Tower.
Phase 4: Make new area for challenge battles with strong trainers to test teams with.
Phase 5 (the fun part): Start ripping fakemon from other fan games and adding to the pool of playable pokmon

Honestly, I know phase 5 is going to create some controversy, so odds are I’ll keep that as a privet build, but it is my endgame. Any suggestions on how where to start? The dream would be finding someone who could set up phase 1-3 and leach off them while having fun with 4 and 5, but this is reality and I need to do the hard part myself.
