Replaying OG pearl and I'm at the elite 4. Just beat the final gym and my current team is:

>Gastrodon
>Abomnasnow
>Rosearade
>Vespiquen

Who do I add to fill out the 6th slot? Luxray?
I was gonna go with Rapidash but I'm too lazy to hunt it and I don't even think it has great matchups against the E4

If you have another DS to trade with, Porygon-Z is a fun mon to try out, it has decent coverage via tms

If you don't have a ds (or pkhex for a rom), what are you looking for? Do you care about having to grind? Do you need good coverage for the e4 or Cynthia? Or does anything go?

honestly, anon, you've got 2 grass types (one with poison, one with ice), a normal type, a bug/flying type, and a water/ground type. what I'm seeing here is quite large weaknesses to flying and fire, both of which can be covered by a rock type, so I would suggest one of those,
..if you could find one, of course. it would also give a larger weakness to water, but you have gastrodon, so I assume you have water absorb.

..but honestly, getting rid of your starter is a sad choice unless you chose a different pokemon to be it.

Novelty and coverage, more than anything else. I don't mind grinding much. When I've played through these games historically I've ended up with the same teams stacked with early game pokemon so I wanted to try mixing things up.
I don't mind trade evos but I want to use gen 4 pokemon if I can help it, even if it's just a gen 4 end stage.
The hole really is for damage - particularly against grass and flying. I can usually win, but it's slower and more painful than I'd like. I don't think the E4 is gonna punish me much for it, but I'd like to have a strong team by the end of it.

Flying is painful, but fire gets hard walled by gastrodon.

Sticky hold lol, Although it doesn't give immunity in gen 4 anyway.

Truthfully I've played the games before and I just wanted to try something new. I normally get to attached to early game pokes and never play with late game options so I'm mixing things up

I will add that the hole in coverage is probably mostly just because abomnasnow's moveset is shit right now, and blizard probably fixes both of the coverage holes I have

After research, Porygon-Z isn't available in pearl until you finish the regional dex, so that's off the table barring trade/rom shenanigans.

Unfortunately, unless you're playing Platinum a lot of interesting gen 4 evolutions are locked behind natdex/postgame (like togekiss)

If it's damage you want, and you don't mind using a second ice type, Glaceon can do that, helping cover grass and flying types. If you don't want to, Mismagius has respectable damage as well.

Or, teach Blizzard to your Abomasnow to fill up that coverage and grab literally any of the other recommended mons from other anons. One of Abomasnows best qualities is that in hail blizzard can't miss
