>>57342608Boomer who played every single gen here. The bugs, bad performance, and shitty graphics are 100% the number one reasons why people shit on the game. It's really easy to post the same 5 videos of glitches or the same 3 screenshots of ugly spots and go "lol this game sucks so bad" and farm engagement on social media (either from circlejerkers who agree or mad people who disagree). You don't even need to have played the game to call those aspects out as bad, and that's the problem. It's extremely easy superficial (and to some extent actually valid) critique that you can't really argue against.
That being said, people who DID play the game and don't just shitpost about it to coax a reaction out of strangers on the internet do know that the game does quite some things right.
Open world games definitely have their problems, but it works very well for Pokémon imo. It could use some polishing for sure, there's not that many interesting things to make exploring more rewarding and the environmental design is not good and too samey. But being able to go to most places from the get-go and seeing Pokémon roam the overworld is definitely really nice and also a good twist on the usual RNG encounter format that has gotten pretty stale by now.
Something that SV really excels in is the story. Compared to all other mainline Pokémon games, SV definitely has the most properly developed ending and probably the best written characters in the series. But some people don't value that at all cause they just want to play battle simulator and not a proper JRPG, so you see some backlash there as well.
Then there's also schizo opinions like "SV is DEI slop full of trannies and brown people" which is obviously just brainworm infested babbling that has absolutely no value at all. But this is 4chan, so you obviously see a lot of that here. (Although it has died down recently because a certain group of trolls is not targeting a different game.)
