>>57359025Don't forget Pokémon was also the poster child for dual releases. You couldn't just release Pocket Monsters 3 and Pocket Monsters 1 Remake, you needed Pocket Monsters 3A and Pocket Monsters 3B followed by Pocket Monsters 1A Remake with Pocket Monsters 1B Remake and then Pocket Monsters 3DX. Can't just access everything on the game you buy, have to nickel and dime you. And if we're talking the GBA, why did the Micro need completely separate accessories? It's asinine.
I don't have especially positive memories of the GBA era, I think Nintendo was highly predatory during this time and that they weren't giving their best output either. Look at a lot of the big GBA games.

The Minish Cap, The Amazing Mirror, MOTHER 3, etc.), a lot of the GBA's library was ports/remakes of NES and SNES games, many of them with major compromises. And even Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were widely considered to have been a very rough start to the series on the GBA.
