And BDSP went on to become the best selling remakes in the entire franchise despite essentially being ROMhack-tier ports, indistinguishable from the original aside from fairies, some new held items for NPCs and a difficulty hack-tier upgrade for the E4 + Champion in order to mask the fact the game is infinitely easier due to the unavoidable and mandatory affection buffs since it wouldn't be very "faithful" to introduce an Amie-esque sidemode to tack those buffs onto, nor would limiting Friendship to stop just before the buffs come into effect until you do something to make it increase again.

Pretty sure LGPE outsold them, if only by a little bit.

Something important that people omit is that BDSP was clearly overshipped and got discounts very quickly, faster than most other Switch games. It was dirt cheap specially in Japan. All other Pokemon games have mostly remained full price.

Shitsui did, BDSP didn't. It's actually a faithful remake that only made good additions or alterations, unlike ORAS which bastardized Hoenn because Ohmori wanted to turn it into his glorified fanfiction starring his original waifu Zinnia.

The only reason it's not optional is because they were too lazy to create an equivalent to PokéAmie. also to make a game difficult, you don't need to take away the player's freedom compared to previous games. the idea that to play like before you have to treat your Pokémon poorly is horrible

I worded that incorrectly, I meant to say that Tweaking softlocks you in Platinum (so you can't do shit even if tou tweak) haven't performed tweaking in HGSS so there's that

Personally I think it's still dumb since the 60 FPS patch exist (it's not even a patch, it's just changing one random Hex value inside all the Gen 4 Roms) mind you i have the patience to play through Gen 4 just fine
