>>57371379Pokemon makes no sense as an open world. It's gameplay has always been close range, jumping over ledges, avoiding grass and trainers. Having a varied amount of options to do on your small handheld screen. SV has none of this, but at the same time, gets no benefit from going open world.
Also seeing Pokemon interact with each other (you only really see in something like snap) is a much better representation of what a Pokemon world could be, but considering they did none of this in PLA and SV, I'm assuming they don't even think about it. How awesome it'd be to see pokemon fight eachother in territory disputes, gathering berries for food, teaming up on a big pokemon. Pokemon just walk around empty terrain and it's very jarring. Also, you'll never see a pokemon you want in the distance, which could tempt you to explore because they can barely have 10 pokemon on screen at a time.
So it fails gameplay wise and immersion wise. So what's the point of it being open world?
