Anyone miss the big stadium gym battles or the closed-off indoor gyms filled with puzzles?

Making S/V open world kinda killed these concepts. All the gym challenges and battles felt severely downgraded.

Ngl, the only thing I like about Sword and Shield were the gyms. The whole Pokemon league being treated like an actual professional sport was a really good idea, ngl.

Sadly this probably ruined S/V gyms for me. They're boring and cookie cutter.

Say what you want about Leon, but Geeta and Nemona will never top the hype that was being face to face with the region's unbeatable Champion.

SV was fine without these things but it was annoying how they still tried to copy GALAR with the annoying chanting and trying to get a huge audience background instead of trying it's own thing. I'm probably the only one that liked the Samba type of gym leader music they started with though.

They let genies out of the bottle in gen 5 and those were the best games in the franchise, sucks that S&V sold so well because they're gonna keep doing open world.

I would prefer a compromise, like there are "open choice areas", you can challenge the 1st gym leader or the 2nd leader in any order, but both must have been defeated before the next "open choice area" is opened
And instead of a free-to-go-anywhere open world, maybe the routes could be mini open worlds instead, like each route is now a small condensed Wild Area, but you still must traverse each route at a time

Half of S/V feels like a tutorial, or unskippable cutscenes. Even with the ability to skip them, three-quarters of them just don't get skipped.

If you're going in level cap order, I'd say the game doesn't actually start until you're level 21 or so, which is disgusting. You get free reign but can't do much with it, S/V is the most linear open world game I think I've played in a long time, if not ever.
