>>57386052I'm a diehard Hoennfag, though I started with gen 1, I grew to like some gen 5 Pokemon over time like Archeops, Carracosta, Emboar, Durant and a few others, but I honestly still cannot bring myself to like a good majority of the dex, it's hideous, uninteresting and walks on territory that was already threaded over, there are some rethreads I don't mind, I'm probably one of the few people who likes Audino for instance, but when I look at Pokemon like Conkeldur, the two Hitmon ripoffs, Klingklang, Gothitelle and the elemental monkeys, I wonder to myself "what were they thinking or going for here?" Several design aspects just make these Pokemon uninteresting or ugly to look at, Conkeldur's line and it's pulsating tumors and veins, Gothitelle's shape feels all wrong, I mean fuck HOW do you screw up the idea of a goth Gardevoir dude? Also why does everything evolve so insanely late? I really wanted to use Braviary when I first played gen 5 but learning how late it evolved sincerely pissed me off and it's not even the most offensive case of this in gen 5. I get this whole thread is more or less just bait, but despite gen 5 having good things going for it, it also has a whole lot of duds and mistakes, for the lack of a better term it's the most experimental generation, it's failure at the time sadly gave Gamefreak the idea that "innovation and experimentation" are things not not be done again, giving way to the downfall of the games that is still occuring, you can pinpoint the point the stopped caring thanks to the leaks and it was right during the middle of XY's development.
